As you probably know, last year at the Trustee, Administrator, and Physician (TAP) Conference, hospitals highlighted their quality and patient safety initiatives with storyboards.
Three hospitals were selected for scholarship awards, based upon their storyboard displays, to attend the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s National Forum where they also displayed their storyboards. This initiative was a huge success and we are now seeking storyboards for the 2008 TAP Conference. You may also display your storyboard at the August 19 SC 5 Million Lives Conference.
This year the South Carolina Organization of Nurse Leaders (SCONL) is taking the lead on the SC Storyboard Session. Attached you will find “the Call for Storyboard Proposals,” ideas for storyboards, and information on the layout of the storyboards. Please make this year’s SC Quality and Patient Safety Storyboard Session a success and submit your hospital’s stories. Please contact our SCONL representative, Susan Outen (

Important Dates:
September 8, 2008 - Two Deadlines:
1. Deadline for sending a copy of your IHI storyboard application to SCHA’s Gloria McKillop. (

) in order to have your storyboard displayed at TAP. Note: (Submit a copy of your application only-do not send your storyboard.) We highly recommend that you submit your application to IHI at the same time.

September 18-20, 2008 - TAP Conference
September 18, 2008 - 12:00 Noon – 6:00 p.m. Set up Storyboards. If you CANNOT set up during this time, please contact Gloria McKillop.
(SCHA will provide tape, push pins, and other display supplies.)
September 19, 2008 - 7:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Storyboards are on display. Ballot box is open for voting only during these hours. Grab a quick breakfast at the TAP buffet and then please be at your storyboard from 7:00 a.m. until the program begins at 8:15, during the TAP program breaks, and until 1:30 p.m. when the voting closes. NOTE: This is also the deadline for submission of your storyboard application to IHI in order to display your storyboard at the IHI National Forum.
September 20, 2008 - 9:50 a.m.-10:00 a.m. Storyboard Scholarship Awards announced.
10:00 a.m.-10:15 a.m. Photo Session. Please be available during this time. We will have a Photo Session of All Storyboard Contacts with TAP attendees from your facility. (Remind your CEO and others to join you at your storyboard for photos).
10:15-12:30 p.m. Storyboards taken down (Please pack them carefully for the trip to the IHI Forum.)
December 8-11, 2008 - Storyboard display at the IHI National Forum. We hope to see all SC storyboards on display in Nashville!
