Third Annual Lewis Blackman Patient Safety Champion Awards
We are extremely pleased to announce the Third Annual Lewis Blackman Patient Safety Champion Awards Program to recognize individuals who have demonstrated exemplary dedication and leadership in advancing the quality and safety of healthcare for patients across South Carolina.
This award has been named in honor of Lewis Wardlaw Blackman, a bright, gifted 15 year-old who died following an elective surgical procedure in 2000 due to complications related to a medication error. Helen Haskell, Lewis Blackman’s mother, has provided inspiration for this award through her tireless and meaningful work to promote patient safety and quality improvement across this state and nation.
